Divine Disruption: The Art of Tsherin Sherpa includes more than twenty paintings, sculptures, and a carpet, some of which are well-known artworks that established Sherpa as a significant voice in the world of contemporary art, as well as new pieces on public view for the first time.
Here, Sherpa brings a personal perspective to migration in his art, asking how the spirits of Himalayan Buddhism with which he grew up and whom he learned to depict as a young artist might adapt to the stresses and opportunities of migration as they move through today’s world together with the Himalayan people. The exhibition is co-organized by HoMA and the Seattle Art Museum, which have two of the leading collections of Asian art in the US.
This show runs through 31 January, 2027.
