The Metropolitan Museum of Art is set to present Mandalas: Mapping the Buddhist Art of Tibet, this captivating exhibition will feature the work of Tibetan artist Tenzing Rigdol as a contemporary juxtaposition to early Himalayan art.
The exhibition will provide a comprehensive overview of Himalayan art's rich and complex visual language, featuring over 100 paintings, sculptures, textiles, instruments, and ritual objects, mostly dating between the 12th and 15th centuries. These exceptional works will serve as a roadmap for understanding the devotional art and worship practices of the region.
Rigdol's contemporary interpretations of age-old traditions will offer visitors a unique perspective; they are influenced by philosophy and often capture the ongoing issues of human conflicts.
