Siah Armajani's Tomb for Nietzsche (2017) is currently on view at 'Sweeter than Honey: A Panorama of Written Art' in the Pinakothek der Moderne through 12 April 2026. The exhibition is dedicated to the holdings of works of scriptural and text-based art of the Written Art Collection, showcasing informal, gestural, calligraphic and script-based forms of expression in the visual arts media of the 20th and 21st centuries. Armajani's practice had been entwined with Persian poetry and Western philosophy, often inserting quotes of thinkers and writers onto his public sculptures. The 𝘛𝘰𝘮𝘣 series pays tribute to the cultural figures that were foundational voices to Armajani's art. The tombs are paradoxical in structure, unlike his architecture that emphasised useful functions, they invite yet inhibit viewers from entering, representing an introspective nature.
