Naiza Khan showing at the MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum, Chiang Mai, Thailand
Titled Living Another Future, is a group exhibition featuring the work of renowned Pakistani artist Naiza Khan. Through a diverse range of media, including video, film, photography, sculpture, print-making, installation, and ceramic, this highly anticipated show explores how humans invest in particular narratives to enable, sustain, or control desired futures, often at the expense of others.
Naiza Khan's multidisciplinary practice explores themes of land, body, and memory, using drawing, sculpture, painting, archives, and film. Her work examines the colonial history, infrastructure, and collective memory, particularly in the context of the Indian Ocean region and the circulation of objects across histories of migration, trade, and faith.
The exhibition also features a dynamic public program, including film screenings, performances, lectures, and artist talks, providing a platform for deeper engagement and reflection on the themes explored in Living Another Future.
The exhibition, curated by Zoe Butt with contributions from Ariana Chaivaranon and Kamonpan Tivawong, was on display from May 24th, 2024, - June 3rd, 2025
