Fine Art Asia

This year Carlton Rochell Asian Art and Rossi & Rossi will join forces to present Masterworks from the Himalayas, an exhibition of over 30 sculptures, paintings, and ritual objects from Tibet, Nepal, and India drawn from private collections in Europe and the United States, many of which have not been available to collectors in decades.  Several of the pieces have been included in major museum exhibitions and published in important books and articles on Asian art.

The allure of Buddhist art from the Himalayas has been steadily growing in Asia, especially within China.  A burgeoning interest in this genre has led to the emergence of new collectors and institutions keen on amassing fine collections of Himalayan art. The intricate connections between Himalayan and Chinese art, as well as the profound significance of Buddhism, continue to captivate art enthusiasts worldwide. This is the third such collaboration between the galleries: in 1999 they staged Sacred Symbols: The Ritual Art of Tibet and in 2009 they presented Masterpieces of Himalayan Art from a European Private Collection.
