Mila, Great Sorcerer: New Vision for Opera NYC
12 – 13 January, 2019
Gerald W. Lynch Theater, New York, USA
Mila, Great Sorcerer: New Vision for Opera NYC is a post-show conversation at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater. The conversation derives from an epic tale originated in Tibet, elaborating on it to create a narrative that addresses shared human experiences, such as redemption and enlightenment. This version of Milarepa’s remarkable life is told by non-Tibetans, but with veneration for all that Tibetan culture offers the world.
Tsherin Sherpa’s involvement in this conversation is rather significant. Not only does this show conveys respect to Tibetan culture and of Tibetan Buddhism practice, but the set also reflects Tsherin Sherpa’s expertise on Tibet, and includes works from the Rubin Museum of Tibetan and Himalayan Art.
