A Retrospective

March 8 – May 26, 2019

Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, Moscow, Russia.

Curated by Nick Aikens (Van Abbemuseum Curator) in collaboration with Kate Fowle, Iaroslav Volovod, and Valentin Diaconov (Garage Curators).

Garage is delighted to present the six-decades of seminal works by Rasheed Araeen. This exhibition reveals the scope of Araeen’s expanded artistic practice, from his early experiments in painting in Karachi and groundbreaking minimalist sculptures in London to key political pieces from the 1970s and 1980s.

Other pioneering works of his, including writing and editorial work, as well as geometric paintings and wall structures are displayed as well.  Araeen will also be developing an Atrium Commission specifically for Garage, producing for the first time a sculpture he envisaged in 1968.
