Leang Seckon’s “New Works” at Institut Français, Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Leang Seckon was born in Prey Veng province, and graduated from the Royal University of Fine Arts of Phnom Penh, Cambodia. He is regarded as one of the foremost and major members of the emerging Cambodian contemporary art scene. His work has been internationally recognized and shown in many international art events throughout the world.

Mixing collage and painting, Leang Seckon takes another look at History moments and the Cambodian daily life, and reveal the intimate narratives of his memories. His compositions put together media-textiles, objects, maps, photographs, and posters. They seamlessly blend imagery and references from history, local folklore and religious iconography, while also drawing from recent events and popular culture.
